Porn needed. Send help

It's official. I suck at finding communities on LJ. So please, if you know of any good Trek fic communities [and not the kink meme, cos I'm already all over that bitch] then please feel free to tell me.

kthx

I shall go browse now.

I can't lie. Not only do I want to read some fic, I also want somewhere to post. I've written a drabble. There will be more :D

I did a search on LJ and didn't find anything, which seemed weird. I'll look at candesgirl's list too.

You could try [livejournal.com profile] newtrekslash. I went by to have a look earlier. Looks good :)

Thanks! I'll check it out. Although I don't know when exactly I'll be reading in yet another fandom, as there's so much I haven't read in the ones I read now. Well, that's just Torchwood and (sort of) Being Human - although, to be honest, I hardly read any of the Being Human stuff, but I WANT to. But I'm really curious to read some Star Trek.

I was watching the first season of Ashes to Ashes the other night and was pleasantly surprised to see Russell Tovey pop up as a guest star who kisses another man. That was fun! I was going to post it as a "Kiss of the Day", but it wasn't on YouTube. :( But in looking for it, I ran across a show called "Annually Retentive" or something like that, that I hadn't heard of before, that Russell was also on. Kind of like Larry Sanders? Did you watch that? It looked good.

I am very selective about what I read. I'm dabbling in a lot of fandoms, but I don't commit myself to reading everything in them. I'm actually currently spending more time hanging around [livejournal.com profile] ontd_startrek and giggling at the macros and videos :)

I am aware of Annually Retentive. I really like Rob Brydon, who presents it, but didn't really watch it all that much. And I've stayed out of A2A from the start. I think it had all been done before with LoM personally. A2A was just a meta of the original for me. With added annoyance from Keeley Hawes. I can't explain it, but as soon as I hear her voiceover at the start, I start to seethe with rage. I've liked her perfectly well in other things I've seen her in. *shrugs*

I missed Life on Mars. It's on my list of things to watch one day.
A2A seems extremely nonsensical, to be honest, and I'm always on the fence about whether I want to keep watching it. I've only got 2 more episodes of the series to watch, so I may as well watch them all at this point.

I couldn't possibly read everything in any fandom (except Being Human I suppose). Basically I get the round-up newsletters for TW and Being Human and always look at those, but how much I actually read varies greatly, as does my tolerance for crap.

Life on Mars may have had its moments of tripped-out weirdness, but generally the whole thing hung together really well. It's an amazing show, but I'm also slightly biased in that I don't think there's ever been anything with John Simm in it that I didn't like. The man is one of my all-time acting heroes. I can't get enough of him. I think though with Ashes to Ashes, they took a concept that had already been done and did it to death. Which is a shame.

My tolerance for crap tends to diminish the less time I have. I've pretty much opted out of the TW fandom in its entirety due to the high degree of wank and the proliferation of what I consider to be OOC fic. I also tend to obsess hard about my latest fandom infatuations, so most of my older fandoms are languishing at the bottom of my list of priorities right now whilst I lavish my attention on Trek.

[identity profile] alba17.livejournal.com 2009-05-29 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
So you think A2A was basically unnecessary or just a retread. I loved John Simm in Dr. Who - I haven't seen him in anything else yet, which is why I want to see Life on Mars. TW fic: yes, there's ALOT of OOC, that's true. I started reading it a little over a year ago. I can't believe I'm still doing it! Is there a lot of wank? I see wankfests sometimes - this is the first fandom I've been involved with, so I have no basis for comparison.

I put this amazing K/S slash fan vid on my LJ - snagged from 51stcenturyfox - you need to watch it if you haven't already. http://alba17.livejournal.com/49736.html#cutid1

You and me both! Am looking through [livejournal.com profile] candesgirl's profile but still. I'm totally going to watch the replies here to find more fic. XD

The [livejournal.com profile] newtrekslash community seems to be pretty good. I posted up a drabble and got a friendly response, and there's some nice fic on there too to suit all kinds of slashy pairings. Not found anywhere that covers anything gen or het yet, though, so I'm still looking and taking recommendations. Let me know if you find anything and I'll do likewise :)

Will do! :)
