I was just poking around your LJ after friending you to watch for your fics when I came across this post. YESS!!! Torchwood was my first foray into fandom. Fell head over heels. I didn't know if I'd feel the same way about anything else. But then I discovered Being Human. First of, I totally fell in love with Mitchell, but then I realized I loved everything else about the show, for all the reasons you went into above. I'm so glad they're doing a 2nd series. I love the music - I've been excited to hear songs I'm really into, and I'd love to see the playlist. (haven't looked for it yet) I'm even thinking about making a vid for it, which I haven't done for anything but TW and is kind of a big deal for me.
