Gah! These are horribly late! I asked for prompts about a month ago, and I've finally gotten around to them.

Two drabbles here, both relatively gen, one is slightly slashy if you squint. Apologies to [livejournal.com profile] cruentum and [livejournal.com profile] alba17 that you had to wait so long for these.

Pairing: Mitchell/Owen
Rating: PG
Prompt:[livejournal.com profile] cruentum asked for this pairing with the prompt Owen: I am not who you think I am

Smiling benignly, Owen sips his tea, regarding Mitchell over his mug. They have to go – him and his boyfriend. Even though he's humoured Mitchell's excuse about the DVD, he can't have the neighbours upset. Sizing up Mitchell's wiry frame he smiles again. He's prepared for a fight if necessary. Scrawny Irish tosser'd never know what hit him.

*

Mitchell calmly observes Owen: tiny twitches in his forearm as he unconsciously clenches his fist; the mask-like appearance of his fixed smile; and flashes a grin. He's quit tearing people apart for fun, but for Owen he'd gladly make an exception.

Pairing: Mitchell/George
Rating: PG
Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] alba17 wanted something about this pair with the prompt University

An impossibly beardy Open University presenter closes another programme and George sighs. “I wish I'd gone to university.”

Mitchell suppresses a smirk. “What would you have studied? Veterinary science?”

“Shut up!”George barks irritably, folding his arms.

“I went for a bit. Manchester. 1973.”

George regards Mitchell incredulously. “You? Went to university? What did you study?”

“I didn't really go for the lectures...” he breaks off. “So, what would you do?”

“I've always fancied History, actually.”

Mitchell quirks an eyebrow. “Well, I'm pretty much living history. You can study me if you like”

I should be making my kid's lunch. Instead, totally enjoying these! Love the bit about Mitchell not tearing up people for fun anymore. LOL at veterinary science (and George BARKS), and Mitchell didn't go for the lectures and is living history - lovely! Thanks so much, this was fun.

Well, it's a good job they were short then, isn't it? I don't want to be held responsible for small people going hungry!

I'm pleased you liked them :)

I'd happily have Mitchell break his resolve if it meant getting rid of Owen.

Liked the George/Mitchell one with Mitchell's line about not being there to study. Whether you meant it or not I choose to take George's study choice as a reference to The History Boys. Thanks for posting.

Ooh, I didn't think of that. If only I had, I would have looked much more clever!

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Well just because it's one of my faves doesn't mean everyone has seen it, though the chances are increased around Russell fans.

your voices are perfect here... reads just like a couple of snippets from the show... i especially loved the first one... this was likely their thoughts during the time when this took place... very well done, love :)

As soon as you mentioned an impossibly beardy Open University presenter I started thinking of a certain other fandom. Then you mentioned Manchester in 1973. Please tell me Mitchell bumped into Sam and Gene!

The end of the last drabble was great, and such a Mitchell thing to say. And I do like the idea that Mitchell would want to tear Owen apart, even if he holds it back.

Funnily enough, I didn't think about the beardy presenter, but I think it must've been subconscious because the 1973 in Manchester reference was TOTALLY deliberate and you get bonus cookies for picking up on it :D

I try not to think about it too much, else I might end up breeding a whole AU where Mitchell is causing a murderous one-man crimewave around Manchester and giving Gene the runaround. I can picture an interrogation in Lost and Found in my head just a liiiittle bit to clearly for my own sanity...

How could I not notice? I'm a HUGE Life on Mars fan, and you should totally indulge in that fic idea. I want to read about that interrogation!

Gene keeps barking in my head, interrogating me about why I'm not. I just keep having epic fic ideas related to LoM and I don't have time to write them *sobs*

I might jot some ideas down around the interrogation and maybe post it as a one-off. I should get down what Gene's shouting at me, I guess, before he stomps off in a huff.

OMG! I love your smirky Mitchell. You have him pegged so WELL!

And your Owen makes my skin crawl. Seriously, you wrote his point of view in a little over 3 lines, but those lines just EXUDE eau-de-douche.

Great little snippets!

Why thank you! I'm glad you liked them, and you felt the characters even through a few words. A compliment about characterisation means the world to me because getting a sense of who someone is through what I write is the most important thing for me. If you can't invest in the subject of the story, why would you care about the tale?
