Pinched this one from
perdiccas and
terraswrath.
Ask me about anything fannish and I will give you my unpopular opinion about it.
It can be anything, from shows, ships to fandom itself; all unpopular opinions will be genuine. If I don't have an unpopular opinion on something, I'm not going to make it up.
I'm not going to bitch for the sake of it, but if I do have something less than popular to say, I won't keep it to myself.

Date: 2010-01-03 08:52 pm (UTC)Firstly, and probably most importantly, no matter how many well-written fics I read by really good writers, I do not see Zach as the natural top in that pairing. I don't give a giddy fuck about the speculated sexuality of Zach, or Chris, or what Just Jared or any of the groupie websites have to say about Zach being a really agressive top. I just. Don't. See it. All the press I've seen with the two of them together has Chris coming across to me as the dominant one and Zach more softly spoken and yielding. Just because Zach is alleged to be gay doesn't mean that Chris doesn't know how a cock works or wouldn't understand how to fuck someone up the arse. Saying that the one who's more likely to be gay is always the top is like saying that the man always has to be the instigator of heterosexual fucking because he's the only one who has a cock to make it happen.
At the end of the day, I know it doesn't really matter. It's all just fantasy and fantasy can go any way you want it to. It's just that the majority fantasy view doesn't fit with mine.
And while we're on the subject, just because Zach is widely speculated to be gay; has eclectic taste in clothing; doesn't like to talk about his sex life; and looks after himself DOES NOT make him incontrovertibly gay. I won't claim him one way or the other unless he decides to step out openly with a significant other because it's none of my business. But if he is or he isn't, it's not going to stop me imagining Chris Pine pushing his eye-wateringly large cock inside Quinto's tight, yoga-honed ass. 'Kay? Good.
Of late, I've been struggling with the fandom. Holidays seem to bring out the fluff in the fandom. I almost drowned in kidfic at Hallowe'en, and Christmas was all about platonic fic and romance. I like my fucking to have fucking in it, so I've kinda drifted away a bit. I like some context to the sex, but lots of chatty friend times with no sex does not a happy Goblin make. I want hardcore cock and bum fun. The absence of it makes me sad.
The last thing, and this applies to all my fandoms, concerns AU. If I'm invested in a pairing, I want to read about that pairing doing something I can imagine that pairing doing. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are actors. They've worked together. They live close to each other. They have interests in common. That gives plenty of material to provide a backdrop for them getting into each others' pants. I don't want to read about one of them being a Catholic priest and the other being a naughty choirboy, unless it's as part of a bedroom fantasy they're acting out as themselves. AU to me is just shorthand for "I want to write an original story but I can't be arsed to create original characters". And if that's not an unpopular view, I don't know what is.
